For Wirksworth’s Parish Room I designed hand painted wood panels provided guidance on how to perform seven customs belonging to an unfamiliar culture. Suspended out of time and place, the customs evoked fictional social encounters that were both formal and intimate.

The panels were made by artist Stephen Murray who combined recycled wooden fragments using traditional marquetry techniques.
