You Are of Vital Importance to the Art Community is included in F.R. DAVID, the journal of reading and writing in contemporary art practice. This 13th issue, titled Inverted Commas, has its origins in the Registry of Pseudonyms: an online database which accounts for who is who and why who is who. Inverted Commas follows ‘pseudonym’ through names, naming, bodies, brains, self, author, other, reader and labour.

You Are of Vital Importance to the Art Community maps a year in the life of an artist/musician referred to using the slippery pronoun ‘you’. ‘You’ moved to Glasgow in 2006 and was deported in 2007. Observations on community make a context from which to consider life, work and creative labour.

This piece also exists as a work for exhibition.
