This live work began with a reenactment of a performance by an artist/musician who moved to Glasgow in 2006 and was deported in 2007. Small, coloured shapes were arranged on a table to form a geometric pattern. Contact microphones captured the shapes tiny movements across the table’s surface, these sounds were then amplified and looped to fill the theatre.

Observations on the life and work of the artist/musician were then read. This prose piece evoked the perspective of a community and a city from which to consider the reenactment of the artist/musician’s performance: their last at the Centre for Contemporary Arts shortly before deportation.

You Are of Vital Importance to the Art Community also exists as a work for exhibition and a piece of prose fiction.
